Inspired by this post, I used "Whose, Which, and How" today to dig a bit deeper into a source I was unfamiliar with called "The Epoch Times." In the process, I found allsides.com which seems useful, if only as a way to orient me. Do you recommend tools like this?
Ah, the Epoch Times. Banned by Facebook for funneling dark money ads: https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech-news/epoch-times-begins-hiding-its-connection-huge-pro-trump-ad-n1045416. You know, this is a great idea for a future post! There's a lot of resources and out there to triangulate sources for those inclined, being built by lots of good people. You already know the first rule of thumb: if a source is trying to dial up your emotions and feels a bit sketchy, it probably is.
Hmm, good question. Depending on how you search for news - Google News lets you hide sources. I suppose if you use an spam/adblocker, you can also set up a list of sources to block, or such a list may exist. Or just use a good curated aggregated like Apple News or Flipboard or the Facebook News tab. Should be easier though. I'll poke around.

Thanks. That's good to know. I wish I could filter out such sources from search results. Or maybe you know a way to do that too? :-)

Today I Learned... I didn't know you could do that in Google News. Thanks, RDF!
And I didn't know about allsides.com. Thanks John.
